Reach out to your Prospects with Effective Signage

Have you ever wondered why people still use signs and banners; even now when the world has, seemingly, moved over to Digital Marketing formats? If you been following events in the Marketing world over the past few years, you will have heard people talk about how the internet and all the technologies that it has engendered, was on the verge of relegating Direct Mail to the annals of History.

It’s a Matter of Trust

However, this prophesy has largely turned out to be false. In fact, the opposite has happened, with many businesses now realizing that there is still a large role to be played by such things as Brochures, Banners and Signs in their Marketing efforts.  We have previously written an article in which we talk about the fact that people trust Direct Mail better than they do Digital Marketing.

There is something about Direct Mail that’s just, dare we say, non intrusive and trustworthy. Much of this stems from the fact that various threats lurk on the internet, with scammers of all shapes and ruses seemingly having found a safe haven within its confines. This has made much of the world somewhat “Digital Wary.” In any case, Direct Mail remains a major force that should be on every Marketer’s mind. So, what can you do to create Signs and Banners that Attract Customers?

  1. Choose your Colors with Care

The first thing that you need to understand is that people, in general, are visual animals, whose attitudes are shaped by their perceptions of the beauty of one picture or the other. That is why it is important for you to choose your colors carefully when designing your signage.

Color as a Brand

  • It is possible for you to, in this regard; use a color as your brand. Just think of what companies such as Coca Cola have done. People have, over the years, become conditioned to associate the Coca Cola red color with that company’s brand.
  • You can, in this regard, use a color to reinforce your brand’s image. However, you should be careful when doing this. What you do not want to do is be associated with colors that will, in a few weeks, become eyesores.
  • Another thing that you need to take into consideration when choosing colors for your Banners and Signs is their placement. There are some colors that just will not work indoors, while other will be so dull when placed outdoors that they will hardly be able to attract positive feedback. In any case, you can read our article on how to promote your business with Banners to find out more.
  1. Make Your Signs Readable

Another thing that you need to take note of when designing your Banners and Signs is that, in order to attract customers, your signage actually needs to have readable text. Although you can probably attract people’s attentions with images and graphics alone, the question that you should ask yourself is what do you expect them to do after that?

Do you expect them to enjoy the spectacle before proceeding with their journeys? Or do you have an appeal that you wish to push out to them. It is clear; in any case that text should be a major part of the design of your Signs and Banners

A major consideration in this regard is that you only have a limited amount of space on which to promote engagement. You should, therefore, not try to say too much by adjusting fonts to unreadable sizes. Just put out your message, and drive readers towards sources of greater information, such as your website or your physical address.

Contrasts

Contrasts play a major role in the readability of your signage. One of the things that you should never do is use similar colors for both your text and for your background. A more appealing and readable design scheme is one that uses a dark color for text on a white background. You can also use drop shadows to boost your text’s readability.

  1. Your Text’s Size

We have already alluded to the fact that you should strive to make your text readable. Graphics on your banner should only be part of your message and you should not compromise on readability by trying to say a lot on such a small space. If, as an example, you are going to create roadside signage, the one thing that you need to take note of is that people will likely be driving fast when they read your message.

This means that you should make your text as large as you can make it. In order to achieve this aim, you actually need to make your message as brief as possible. No one is going to stop by the roadside in busy traffic in order to read your signage, however visually appealing it may be.

Your Marketing Stuff

The one thing that you should do, if you do not have the resources that are needed to do it in-house, is have your Direct Mail designed by professionals. This is absolutely crucial, considering the fact the people will either be attracted to or condemn your entire company based solely on how you’re Banners, Signs and other Direct Mail Marketing material look.

This fact is hardly surprising. Just ask yourself whether or not you, yourself, would be willing to do business with an entity that does a shoddy job of projecting its own image. We take cognizance of these facts, which is why we, at Your Marketing Stuff, have made it our mission to help you design and print all your Direct Mail material. This includes Signs and Banners.
